INTERIOR DESIGN | WEST COAST, BC

We believe in collaboration

We are a dynamic full-service interior design studio with diverse experience in our portfolio, including a range of projects in both residential and commercial. We like to think of ourselves as designing for life.

We are grateful to be able to work and play here on the unceded Indigenous land belonging to the Coast Salish peoples, including the territories of the Lil'wat Nation and Squamish Nation.

Design is equal parts creative, talent, expertise, and execution. In a team stacked with talent, each member of the LRD team draws on their strengths and aesthetical preferences, shaping a balanced and collaborative collective. We also come to the table with a massive amount of respect for the build team and always promote open communication with the goal of a seamless execution of the project.

When you truly listen to people, you embark on an inquiry into who they are and how they function. While we transform spaces, in turn, that transformation will have a long-lasting impact on your life. We aim to empower you to trust yourself and guide you toward a truly beautiful result. It is a huge responsibility and not something we take lightly. We are not here to impress our preferences on you but to get to know you and understand which path we will take on the road to discovering your unique design.

Ritz takes inspiration from the West Coast landscape but also from the architectural forms she’s working with. “We’re inspired by their design; the landscape inspires them. It all speaks a certain language”.

Excerpt from “West Coast North” by Julia Dilworth

LAUREN RITZ

PRINCIPAL DESIGNER | OWNER - BAH DID RID

Lauren spent many years in her youth watching and learning under her father’s diligent eye as he worked in fine woodwork, carpentry, and contracting. She grew to have a huge appreciation and respect for not only the woodworking craft but also for the build team and all people involved in what needs to occur to execute any size of the project. Several summers were spent in his wood shop, assembling millwork and paying close attention, being intrigued by not only how everything logically worked but also how the details would ultimately shape the integrity of the design. In addition to this influence, her mother was a fine artist and encouraged a deep understanding and appreciation for all things creative.

In her earlier years, Ritz studied and then worked in Theatre & Film Set Design. Still, she gradually grew frustrated with the impermanence of her designs and soon went back to school to study Interior Design, eventually landing her where she is today. She believes in leading a team that feels elevated and collaborative and encourages mutual respect within the dynamic of all parties involved, from the architect to the build team and everyone in between.

Today, having their studio located in Squamish reflects an honest ethos that Lauren holds dear. In a location rich with nature, where the ocean meets mountains, her team is continually inspired to design locally and encourage an engagement with the landscape.

CHARLIE WILSON

ASSOCIATE DESIGNER - DID RID

Originally from England, she began her design journey with a Foundation Diploma from the prestigious Leeds College of Art & Design, followed by an Honours Degree from the Manchester Fashion Institute, which led her into the fast-paced world of fashion buying. After several years in the industry, she made the bold decision to step away and travel through South America—an experience that broadened her perspective and planted the seeds for a deeper connection to design.

Settling in Vancouver, she moved from rental to rental before purchasing and redesigning her own home, a process that reawakened a long-standing passion for interiors and clarified a new creative path. Returning to school, she earned a Diploma with Distinction in Interior Design from BCIT. She now brings her background in fashion, travel, and interior design to her role at LRD Studio. Inspired by the Pacific West Coast, her work is grounded in a desire to help people create homes they love: spaces that feel like sanctuary and serve as the backdrop for life’s most meaningful memories.

MARKETA TOBIASOVA

OPERATIONS MANAGER

Marketa Tobiasova graduated at West Bohemia University with a master’s degree in law. After two years of pursuing a law career, she decided to take a break and move Canada to explore nature, culture and to learn English where she immediately fell in love with the land and people. Her passion for outdoor adventures brought her to the beautiful British Columbia. Growing up, Marketa was very much influenced by her mom, who is an Interior Designer, so it was only natural that she magnetically was attracted to working at LRD. We are so fortunate to have Marketa as our Operations manager. She is involved in many different tasks in an environment that is very close to her and reminds her of home. If she’s not behind the computer, you’ll probably find her running, skiing, climbing, biking and generally adventuring in the mountains.
