INTERIOR DESIGN | WEST COAST, BC

We believe in collaboration

A Group of Fiercely Talented Individuals

We are a dynamic full-service interior design studio with diverse experience in our portfolio, including a range of projects in both residential and commercial. We like to think of ourselves as designing for life.

We are grateful to be able to work and play here on the unceded Indigenous land belonging to the Coast Salish peoples, including the territories of the Lil'wat Nation and Squamish Nation.

Design is equal parts creative, talent, expertise, and execution. In a team stacked with talent, each member of the LRD team draws on their strengths and aesthetical preferences, shaping a balanced and collaborative collective. We also come to the table with a massive amount of respect for the build team and always promote open communication with the goal of a seamless execution of the project.

When you truly listen to people, you embark on an inquiry into who they are and how they function. While we transform spaces, in turn, that transformation will have a long-lasting impact on your life. We aim to empower you to trust yourself and guide you toward a truly beautiful result. It is a huge responsibility and not something we take lightly. We are not here to impress our preferences on you but to get to know you and understand which path we will take on the road to discovering your unique design.

Ritz takes inspiration from the West Coast landscape but also from the architectural forms she’s working with. “We’re inspired by their design; the landscape inspires them. It all speaks a certain language”.

Excerpt from “West Coast North” by Julia Dilworth

LAUREN RITZ

PRINCIPAL DESIGNER | OWNER - BAH DID RID

Lauren spent many years in her youth watching and learning under her father’s diligent eye as he worked in fine woodwork, carpentry, and contracting. She grew to have a huge appreciation and respect for not only the woodworking craft but also for the build team and all people involved in what needs to occur to execute any size of the project. Several summers were spent in his wood shop, assembling millwork and paying close attention, being intrigued by not only how everything logically worked but also how the details would ultimately shape the integrity of the design. In addition to this influence, her mother was a fine artist and encouraged a deep understanding and appreciation for all things creative.

In her earlier years, Ritz studied and then worked in Theatre & Film Set Design. Still, she gradually grew frustrated with the impermanence of her designs and soon went back to school to study Interior Design, eventually landing her where she is today. She believes in leading a team that feels elevated and collaborative and encourages mutual respect within the dynamic of all parties involved, from the architect to the build team and everyone in between.

Today, having their studio located in Squamish reflects an honest ethos that Lauren holds dear. In a location rich with nature, where the ocean meets mountains, her team is continually inspired to design locally and encourage an engagement with the landscape.

TYECE FAIRWEATHER

ASSOCIATE DESIGNER - DID

Tyece obtained her bachelor's degree from BCIT and studied in Helsinki, Finland, where she developed a strong affinity for the Nordic way of life and design. Her love for West Coast Modern architecture led her to establish a link between it and curated Scandinavian design. Tyece is an avid fan of color, shape, and texture and draws inspiration from her travels, art, and nature. As an interior designer, she enjoys creating meaningful designs and exploring big ideas, with a keen eye for details. Tyece's landscaping background makes her aware of the relationship between architecture and its environment, extending design beyond interiors.

Working collaboratively with the studio team and contractors, Tyece relishes each project's uniqueness. Her warm and engaging personality shines through, whether she's skiing down slopes or enjoying après-ski with friends.

AUDREY ROBITAILLE

ASSOCIATE DESIGNER - DID

Originally from just outside Québec City, she was drawn to the West over five years ago by its outdoor lifestyle and scenic landscape. Audrey studied Interior Design at the Pacific Design Academy in Victoria, where she honed her creative and design skills. Her love for art, architecture, and mindful living informs her work, and she takes inspiration from her surroundings, travels, and nature. Her designs often feature earthy tones, textures, lines, and shapes. Audrey's visual way of thinking and her feeling for space allow her to create a strong connection between people and their environment. When she's not at the office, you can find her in the backcountry, mountain biking, or exploring various art forms at home.

MARKETA TOBIASOVA

OPERATIONS MANAGER - LLM.

Marketa earned a master's degree in law from West Bohemia University before embarking on a career in law for two years. She later took a break and traveled to Canada to explore its natural beauty, learn English, and immerse herself in its culture. Her love for the outdoors eventually led her to the breathtaking province of British Columbia. Inspired by her mother, who worked as an interior designer, Marketa felt drawn to LRD, where she currently serves as our Operations Manager. Marketa is involved in a variety of tasks that are closely tied to her interests and remind her of her home. When she's not at her computer, you might find her running, skiing, climbing, biking, or exploring the mountains. We consider ourselves incredibly lucky to have her on our team.
