Whistler is a mountain town with a particular kind of design problem: spaces have to handle full-time families, snow-stained boots, holiday guests, and a view that never lets you forget where you are. Our Whistler projects are organized around exactly that — durable materials, generous gathering spaces, and palettes that hold their own against alpine light. LRD Studio is led by Lauren Ritz, a registered interior designer (RID, NCIDQ) based an hour south in Squamish — on-site in Whistler, not driving up from Vancouver.

FAQ

Working with us in Whistler.

How does interior design work in a Whistler vacation home?
Vacation homes have a specific brief: spaces that work when six people arrive at once, finishes that handle high-turnover use, and a sense of place that justifies the trip. We design around the way the home actually gets used — not just how it looks in October light.
Do you work with Whistler-specific builders?
Yes. We have long working relationships with several Sea to Sky general contractors and trades. Most of our Whistler residential projects are joint ventures with a local builder we trust.
How long does a Whistler renovation take?
A full residential renovation in Whistler typically runs 12–18 months from kickoff. Permitting through the Resort Municipality of Whistler can add a few months on the front end. Our design-phase timelines are 4–6 months before any trades begin work.
Can you work on a Whistler project remotely?
For owners who don’t live in Whistler full-time, yes. Most of the design work happens in our Squamish studio with regular site visits and digital reviews. The key calls always happen in person.

Let’s talk about how your family lives.

Every project starts with a conversation about who you are and how you actually live.
